209 Women

209 Women is an artist-led project founded by Hilary Wood that aims to champion the visibility of women. It celebrates 100 years since the first election when women were allowed to vote for the first time, and also since the first female MP was elected.

To mark the occasion, 209 female photographers across the UK have been invited to make a portrait of sitting woman MPs. In 2018 there were 209 women Members in the House of Commons.

The project formed an exhibition which was shown at Portcullis House, London and at Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool.

I had the pleasure of photographing Heidi Allen MP, at her house in South Cambridgeshire.
